You’re probably already familiar with Expedia. Expedia is a travel aggregator that connects travelers with deals for flights and other accommodations.
The Citi Expedia®+ Card rewards you with bonus points for spending on the site.
If you’re a jet-setter, the Citi Expedia Card could give you the rewards you need to do the affordable travel of your dreams.
In this review, we’ll cover all you need to know about the card.
Expedia Credit Card Rewards Details
Citi Expedia Credit Card members earn:
- 3 Expedia bonus points per $1 spent on flights, hotels, activities, and travel packages
- 1 Expedia bonus points per $1 spent on other purchases
There are some fine print conditions for the type of purchases that will earn points.
Eligible purchases are ones where you pay in full at the time of booking.
You can’t earn points on a car rental unless it’s part of a travel package. (Cruises don’t qualify for points either.)
On the bright side, there’s no limit to how many points you can earn.
Your points don’t expire either as long as you earn or redeem every 18 months.
Extra Rewards & Incentives
For starters, the Expedia Card gives new signees a bonus.
You can earn 15,000 Expedia bonus points if you spend $1,000 within the first three months of opening the card.
An extra perk of being a Citi Expedia®+ Card member is that it gets you Expedia+ silver status.
Expedia+ silver status offers member benefits like exclusive offers, VIP Access hotel stays, and concierge services.
Citi Expedia Credit Card Fees
The Citi Expedia Card has the following costs to consider:
- Interest rate – 16.49% to 24.49% APR
- Annual fee – None
- Foreign transaction fee – 3%
- Late fee – up to $35
The rate range for this credit card is pretty competitive.
Generally, the lowest interest rates are given to people with the best credit so keep that in mind.
There’s also no annual fee which offers you some savings, but there is a foreign transaction fee.
The foreign transaction fee is something to consider especially since this is a travel card.
Other Credit Card Details
You can apply for the Citi Expedia online, but you must be at least 18 years or older to apply.
Citi may allow you to transfer a balance to the card on a case-by-case basis.
However, there’s not much incentive to transfer a balance because standard interest rates apply.
Cardholders get Citi card benefits like Citi Concierge and Apple Pay.
You also get access to Citi Private Pass for VIP packages to concerts, sporting events, dining experiences, and more.
The Bottom Line
If you’re an avid Expedia user, you may want to consider going all in and getting a card that gives you Expedia rewards.
The benefit of using this card vs. a regular category unspecific rewards credit card is that you earn points to use on what you love to do — travel.
